Former Discovery Networks, Endemol, and Ricochet Production Head and Channel Exec Georgina Surtees becomes COO
(London - June 11th, 2021) Big Little Fish (BLF), the unscripted production company driven by proven television executives and former commissioning editors Mark Procter and Steve Jones, today announce the appointment of Georgina Surtees to the role of COO.
Georgina joins the senior leadership team at BLF and brings over 20 years of industry experience as a production head to the globally facing unscripted business. In her role as COO, Georgina will manage all of BLF production and business concerns and additionally act as the company’s Head of Production.
Having built the foundations of her career at producers such as Darlow Smithson and Shine, Georgina then spent seven years as a production manager across all genres for the likes of Endemol, Ricochet and Bullseye. Georgina joined Discovery Networks Europe in 2012 and was responsible for factual & lifestyle programming as Senior Director of Production Management.
Georgina will work closely with co-founders Mark Procter and Steve Jones, the former Discovery Networks executives who launched BLF to produce quality returnable factual programming for the UK and International market.
With a number of projects in active development, BLF has also produced an unannounced 10x60 observational documentary series for an international network and is in production on three documentary projects for a major UK broadcaster and a global streamer. They are also members of the Indielab 2021 programme - the accelerator scheme for UK-based independent producers.
Georgina Surtees, COO, BLFTV, said: “Mark and Steve’s infectious ambition for Big Little Fish instantly made me want to be a part of their growth story and I’m delighted to be joining the leadership team. What they’ve achieved independently already is impressive and collectively we now have rapid expansion plans to supersize the business with some truly exciting projects and initiatives.”
Mark Procter and Steve Jones, co-founders of Big Little Fish, said: “Like all producers we’ve faced multiple challenges over the last 16-months and we are incredibly thankful to the commissioners and channels that have supported us with our first productions. Securing one of the industry’s most respected production executives is a massive coup for us and with Georgina’s wealth of experience we are now looking forward to building our business together.”
