Discovery Commissions ‘The Curse of The Highgate Vampire’ from Big Little Fish
(5th October 2021 – London, UK) - Discovery has today announced the commission of The Curse of The Highgate Vampire, a 1 x 60 paranormal shock-doc from Big Little Fish that explores the secrets of the Highgate Cemetery.
The film will join the blood-chilling stories from the Streaming Home of Paranormal, dropping on discovery+ globally just in time for Halloween.
The Curse of The Highgate Vampire documents a gang of paranormal thrill-seekers as they get locked inside the cemetery. During the night they stumble across horrifying and bone-chilling paranormal evidence that triggers an insatiable obsession to find out about the infamous hauntings of Highgate. The series dives into newly discovered recordings of David Farrant, a deceased psychic investigator who was at the centre of the shocking reports, including witness accounts of bodies rising from graves, strange bite marks appearing on a woman’s neck and numerous sightings of a tall dark figure with red eyes walking amongst the graves. The Curse of The Highgate Vampire hopes to solve the 50-year mystery of what lies in the Victorian graveyard.
The series will be part of Ghostober, Discovery’s first-ever cross-brand, cross-platform Halloween programming offering. Ghostober will include over 50 hours of shows from 14 series and specials globally, with new and exclusive content landing on the service all month long.
Clare Laycock, SVP Planning & Insights, Head of Entertainment at Discovery, said: “The Curse of The Highgate Vampire makes a fantastic addition to our “Stream to Scream” line-up. discovery+ is going to be flooded with blood-curdling stories - our viewers are in for a treat!”
Mark Procter, Co-Founder and CEO at Big Little Fish Television said: “The legend of the vampire is one of the most enduring genres of horror and this is a stranger than fiction story of a seventies London gripped by fear and hysteria. It’s a fifty-year mystery explored in a film that we’ve really loved getting our teeth stuck into.”
The series was ordered for discovery+ by Clare Laycock, commissioned by Charlotte Reid and executive produced by Deirdre Dowling for Discovery. It was produced for discovery+ internationally and will air globally this autumn.
